Introducing The “Getting Paid” Guide

Working with WWIF Board members Stephanie Meier (Stoel Rives LLP) and Bill Shibley (Northwest Farm Credit Services) together with attorney Jesse Lyon (Davis Wright Tremaine), WWIF hosted several workshops detailing how grape growers and wineries can perfect the grape sale transaction. The workshops highlighted tools that can help to ensure timely payment, including the Uniform Commercial Code and the Perishable Agricultural Commodities Act.

Based on feedback from the workshops and 15 individual interviews of industry members, we produced a comprehensive guide to help both growers and wineries understand how to best structure their relationship.

Based on feedback from the workshops and 15 individual interviews of industry members, we produced a comprehensive guide to help both growers and wineries understand how to best structure their relationship. “Getting Paid – Tools for Wine Grape Growers: A Step-By-Step Guide to Reducing Revenue Loss When Selling Grapes”, the guide covers everything from vetting new customers to enforcing payment.

Check out the new Resources page of the website for two versions (a high-resolution and a low-resolution). For a hard copy (while supplies last) contact Leslie at 509-782-1108 or leslie@washingtonwinefoundation.org.

The workshops and guide were funded by a grant from the USDA’s Risk Management Agency. To learn more about the work WWIF does to facilitate grants on behalf of the Washington wine industry, check out more of our Grants stories.
