The industry has been developing a Washington winegrape sustainability certification program. A pilot program begins this fall, and industry committees are finalizing details and will send out the provisional Standard for public review this month.
The Washington State Wine Commission along with their branding company, Chapter & Verse, and are finalizing a name and logo for the program to be unveiled later this year.
Industry stakeholders have come to the table for intentional discussion, critical analysis, and an honest assessment of what Washington wants in a certification program. Coupled with partners including the Washington Wine Industry Foundation, Washington Winegrowers, Washington Wine Commission, and Washington Wine Institute, a Washington winegrape sustainable certification program will launch late this year.
The Foundation provided the fundraising for this year’s build-out: bringing together industry partners to facilitate funding solutions to the industry’s needs.
