Announcing scholarships available for the 2016-17 academic year! Eligible students pursuing degrees in viticulture, enology or wine marketing are invited to submit applications for the coming school year. The WWIF Foundation Fund, Walter J. Clore, and Horse Heave Hills Wine Growers (limited to residents of Benton, Yakima, and Klikitat Counties) scholraships will be offered this year, along with a new opportunity called the Bill Powers Sabbatical.

Akin to a ‘study-abroad’ for adults, the Bill Powers Sabbatical is available to mid-career professionals seeking to advance their knowledge of a specific aspect of their work.

Akin to a ‘study-abroad’ for adults, the Bill Powers Sabbatical is available to  mid-career professionals seeking to advance their knowledge of a specific aspect of their work. Whether that be exploring techniques or varietals grown in another region, or how winemakers manage variables to produce consistent outcomes, the sabbatical opportunity is designed to afford the time to learn, and then share with the industry.

Created as a legacy to honor Bill Powers’ lifetime of contributions to the industry, this sabbatical encourages exploration – just as Bill encouraged others to learn and share.  The award will fund travel costs to any location in the world – and requires the awardee to share with the industry what is learned within one year of returning.

All applications are due March 15, 2016.
Further information and application materials can be found on the Scholarships page.
